Who we are

The Fort De Soto Archive is an independent history archive about Mullet Key and Fort De Soto. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what choices you have.

Information you give us

If you use our contact form or email us, we receive the information you choose to send: your name, your email address, and the contents of your message, including any photographs or documents you share. We use this only to read and respond to you and, where relevant, to consider your material for the archive. We do not sell it or share it for marketing.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we use analytics to understand how the site is used, which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and what browser or device they use. This is gathered in aggregate to help us improve the archive. We currently use Google Analytics for this; it sets cookies and processes data under Google's own privacy terms.

If and when we display advertising, our advertising partner (Google AdSense) may use cookies to show relevant ads and measure their performance. You can control or disable personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We and our analytics and advertising partners use them to remember preferences, measure traffic, and, where applicable, support advertising. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings; the archive's content will still work, though some measurement will be limited.

Third-party services

A few trusted third parties help run the site and process limited data on our behalf: our web host, our analytics provider (Google), our advertising partner (Google, if ads are enabled), and the service that delivers our contact form to our inbox. Each handles data under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Google's Privacy Policy for how it treats analytics and advertising data.

How we use information

We use the information described above to respond to your messages, to maintain and improve the archive, to understand our audience in aggregate, and, where enabled, to support the advertising that helps keep the site free. We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or opt out of future contact, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we will honor valid requests under those laws.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows or as our services change. When we do, we will revise the effective date below. Significant changes will be noted on this page.

Questions about this policy or your information? Reach us through our contact page. We will respond as soon as we can.
